31 Days to a New you: Day 4: 30 minutes is all it takes
Filed in archive 31 Days to a New You on December 4, 2007
We need to reward ourselves for being so good and drinking lots of water and eating well. The reward will be one of the things our body likes the most; exercise.
Believe it or not but our bodies loves exercise! There is no better way to take care of our body than to give it some exercise. It makes us stronger and helps us stay well.
30 minutes per day is all it takes now in the beginning and of course we will start with walking. Walking is an excellent way to exercise if you are out of shape and trying to get into shape. With only 30 minutes per day you can benefit a lot from walking. It requires no membership fee, no special clothes and it doesn't require you to have a certain fitness level to benefit from it.
Start walking in a pace that feels good for you for a few Days as you increase your speed day by day. A light sweat is only good but don't over do it so that the next day you are in pain and use it as an excuse not to walk.
If you are worried you have no time then look at your schedule and see when you can add 30 minutes walking into it. Perhaps at lunch, or perhaps add 15 minutes to the 15 minutes it takes to walk home? Get off the bus a few stops earlier, it doesn't need to be difficult or time consuming. Walking early in the morning is great as the world is still quite quiet.
Remember, 30 minutes is all it takes!
This is the 4th day of 31 Days to a New You, where you get ready for a new healthy year. Read more here on how to start a new healthy year in 31 days.
