31 Days to a New you: Day 5: 5 food rules to remember
Filed in archive 31 Days to a New You on December 5, 2007
Sometimes it can be confusing to remember every advice we are given regarding what food to eat etc to stay healthy.
Here are 5 food rules you should remember to keep you going for a healthier life week after week.
1: Snacking- some say; "never eat between meals" I, and many nutritionists, say; wrong. You should eat 5 times per day, breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks. Then you won't go hungry and are less prone to grab a chocolate on the go.
2: Water; try and drink 1-2 Liters per day. In a warm climate you might need more.
3: Think about how many carbohydrates you eat everyday. We usually eat a lot more than we need resulting in more energy = weight gain. Only take what you need is the thing here. Good options are quinoa, whole wheat pasta, lentils and cold boiled potato. Why cold? A cold boiled potato has a lower Glycaemic Index, the lower the better.
4: Going out for a drink once in a while is once, what is not so nice are the calories that comes with that beer. Chose red wine or alcohol free drinks instead and wake up feeling better the next day. That last thing is an extra bonus.
5: Don't be afraid of the fat. The good fats that is, avoid the bad fats and do yourself a favor.
Remember these food rules and you should notice a healthier you soon.
