31 Days to a New You
by Linda Hernestal da Silva on December 8, 2007
After a week of drinking more water than we have drunk in a long time and more walking than normal it is finally Sunday and time to rest.
The Sunday rest is longed for by many including me. Sundays are what I call "my indulgence Days". It is the only time during the week that I don't care about what I eat and I make sure to relax for the coming week.
But there is one thing I do that allows me to really relax. I start my day with some kind of exercise. Many prefer to lie in until late and think that's how you relax. For me that doesn't work at all. Because I usually think the days should have more than 24 hours I like to wake up early on a Sunday and just enjoy to do nothing after I have practices my exercise. Doesn't sound tempting do you think? Well when I say exercise I am not talking about a sweaty exercise that leaves me all tired for the rest of the day.
Your Sunday exercise doesn't need to be sweaty nor does it need to be tiring. It could be something really simple like sweeping your yard, going for a walk with the dog or without one if you haven't got one, walking an extra block when you go to buy your morning bread or some light stretching in front of your Sunday morning program.
You just need to move a little and then you can relax for the rest of the day. And for some Sunday is the only day they have to get some real exercise. I believe that we have become a little too comfortable and are using Sundays as an excuse to continue our unhealthy habits instead of seeing it as a day to invest in our health.
We can do many things to take care of ourselves and get prepared for a long week ahead. I mentioned a few above but reading, taking a relaxing bath and calling someone we haven't spoken to in a long time is also a way of taking care of ourselves.
31 Days to a New you is about creating new healthy habits, a healthy Sunday is part of that. So tomorrow, get up a little earlier do some light exercise and take care of yourself so you are prepared for a new week on Monday.
Have a nice Sunday!
