Accepting our bodies

So you have struggled and struggled for years to become this fit and good looking person. Still there is something that you don't like about yourself.

Maybe you don't like your stomach, legs, or arms and are always complaining about this. Maybe not loud but on the inside.
Oh I have complained as well. I still do, everyday I lay a hand on my belly and say; tomorrow I really have to do something about this.

Tomorrow comes and usually I haven't done anything about it. So I have slowly but surely started to accept that yes I do have a little belly, but I have also given birth to a beautiful baby. OK, he is actually 3 now so that is not a valid reason I think. But I hide behind it anyway. Like many mothers.

Accepting our bodies can be difficult but is it worth the stress of not feeling good about ourselves?
I am not saying that we should just accept and do nothing about it. I am saying that we should accept and try to improve, if we do that it can only get better.

I have accepted but not given up, that's different.
