Avoid gym germs
Filed in archive Stay Healthy on July 17, 2007
If you join a gym for the first time you might not be aware of or think about how many germs there are in that sweaty environment.
With everyone working out, sweating and using the same machines the possibilities of catching a cold or infection also are higher than if you exercise at home.
Your gym should have disinfectants so that you can clean the machines you are about to use, preferably you should clean it for the next person as well.
There are some basic things you can do to avoid the risk of catching an infection;
Never use your sweaty socks twice, fungus germs thrive in there.
Use flip flops in the shower and sauna.
Always use a clean towel.
Clean your shoes and tumble them dry regularly.
Use a sweat towel in the gym.
Wash your hands before and after exercise.
Always sit on your towel in the sauna or in the changing room.
Dry and clean is a good motto to remember. That goes in the gym and the changing room.
Although you can catch an infection you shouldn´t worry too much. If you make sure you are careful you should be OK. However I you do catch something it is usually easily cured by your doctor.

Great post! I frequently forget about germs at the gym. I should start washing my hands more frequently...

The best way to prevent germ contact ina gym's restroom is to provide hands free soap and towel dispensers, automatic faucets and flushers, and hands free door openers. www.autohandsfreesoap,com has them all.
