Build your own home gym
Filed in archive Exercises For Everyone on August 4, 2007
Many are those who would like to have their own home gym. The reasons vary but the convenience is what appeals to most.
You might think that you need a lot of space to have a proper workout at home or that you have to spend a lot of money.
Well compared to monthly membership fees your home gym is a one time cost.
The thought of having your own home gym is good but before you go and buy all essentials ask yourself if you will really stick to your fitness routines at home. It is so much easier to sit in front of the TV instead of having a workout. It´s easy to say; ¨I´ll do it later¨, only that later becomes days and in worst case weeks and months.
You don´t need a lot of space. Some things can even be stored in the corner of your room or other appropriate place.
A few basic things for your home gym:
Cardio:
A skipping rope
Stationary bike
elliptical trainer
Treadmill
Strength:
Resistance bands
Weights - dumbbells
Medicine ball
A multi-purpose strength machine
A bench to perform different strength exercises on.
Extra: Exercise video
As you can see there are different choices depending on your space and wallet.
How to get the most out of your workout:
Contact a personal trainer to set up a program for you.
If you want to work out from home and be sure that you get the most out of your workout contact a PT to come to your home and make a special exercise program for you. Follow the program for a month or two, depending on your progress, then update your program with your PT.
That way you can be sure you are doing the right exercises and avoid any possible injuries as well as getting a good workout.
Where to buy:
You can buy new or used equipment. Used doesn´t mean old or damaged, sometimes you can make a bargain when buying used equipment. Just make sure everything is in order and get a receipt and guarantee.
Good luck starting your home gym.

Quite a good article. Home gyms are preferred because they cut down on time, are convenient and provide privacy. Before you zero in on a home gym of your choice, you need to consider your fitness need, the space available and then make a budget accordingly.
