In Spain where I live, people, including children never have milk to the food, wich is common in my counry of origin (Sweden). But – often the children have a youghurt as a dessert, and I suppose that gives some calcium as well.

I’m a milk fan! No wonder, my father used to be a milk farmer. I don’t drink milk very much these days, but sometimes I it just comes over me and I drink a lot of it. My two children are unusual to live in France – they both like milk. But one prefers it cold to the meal, and the other one drinks hot chocolate or just warm milk. I think that is nice, because I believe in the benefits of milk!

My kids were both allergic to milk protein up to age 4, so we’ve tried lots of “alternative milks”, like rice milk (yummy!), oat milk (good for cooking and baking), sesame milk (i really like that one)… You don’t have to drink milk to get strong bones, but if you donĀ“t you probably need to eat calcium pills.
