In chocolate there is a substance called epicatechin which can protect against stroke and cancer among some other diseases. It could even help you live longer.
Well actually, and this is the part that sugar addicted chocolate lovers might not want to hear: It's suppose to be bitter and from the real cocoa bean. And you have to drink up to 40 cups per week. So no extra sugar added. And cocoa is not sweet I can tell you if you've never tried it.
Epicatechin can also be an important vitamin.
At the moment, the science does not support epicatechin having an essential role, but there is plenty of evidence to suggest it could have a protective effect in the body.Dr Hollenberg, a scientific advisor says that this could be a good time for chocolate companies to invest in epicatchin supplements.

But don't use this as an excuse to buy an extra sugar loaded chocolate cake!
