Dark chocolate good for high blood pressure
Filed in archive Healthy Eating on July 8, 2007
I love chocolate, and I mean chocolate not the sugar. I like dark chocolate, the darker the better.
Chocolate is said to be bad for your skin and because of it´s amount of calories.
Obviously that depends on how much you eat.
If you suffer from high blood pressure a piece of chocolate might not be so bad after all.
If you have a small piece of dark chocolate you might lover your possibilities of hypertension. If you eat too much you will gain weight and then it won´t do any good at all.
A recent study from Germany where the participants ate chocolate for a few months shows that dark chocolate has this effect. White chocolate doesn´t. That is because the dark chocolate contains a substance called flavonols which you can not find in white chocolate.
So if you want to treat yourself to a piece of chocolate each day that is fine, just make sure you buy dark chocolate and eat a tiny piece every day.
Of course you should take this advice with a pinch of salt as it´s still not proven to be a fully reliable way to reduce high blood pressure. But if you make sure you exercise as well, a 20 minutes walk for a piece of chocolate or so, then it´s shouldn´t be so bad.
Now where did I put that chocolate...?

I would really love to be true because just like you I am also a big fan of dark chocolate and I do happen to have some problems with my blood pressure. So this is good news for me and I hope it is also reliable.
