Do I look fat in this?
Filed in archive Inner Health on March 22, 2007
This is probably one of the most common questions among women.
- Do I look fat in this?
- No?
- Are you sure?
When it comes to clothes and body proportions we worry all the time, whether we want or not. We always ask our friends if we look good and if they say that we don't we get upset.
But you want to hear the truth or you want to be lied to?
Usually the latter keeps us calm.
But is it helping us? Wouldn't it be better if our friends told us: No you really need to start exercise because you're getting too chubby.
Or: Have you thought of going on a diet?
Would you ever say that to your friend? You have to make sure it's a good friend in that case.
So next time you ask if you look fat in whatever it is you are wearing, think about it, do you really want to hear the answer?
Maybe it's good if you ask, sometimes we need a wake up call.
Of course I hope that your friend is a good friend that has some kind of psychological instincts so that he/she tells you the truth in a good way. That is if you need to loose weight or don't look good in your clothes.
Hopefully you don't ask this question too often.
But why are we so concerned about what others think about our body? Shouldn't it be natural for us to feel good about ourselves?
Who's to blame for this? The media?
We can blame whoever we want but it's down to us to do something about it.
You are beautiful the way you are.
- Do I look good in this?
- Yes you look good in that.
You are a bit chubby but it's charming.
