Getting in shape after birth
Filed in archive Pre/Post Natal on June 15, 2007
Almost every woman is afraid of gaining weight when they receive the good news of being pregnant. And they are usually afraid of not losing the weight afterwards.
So if you put on a few extra kilos after becoming pregnant then how do you lose them afterwards? Don´t panic. You will get there, just take it easy.
Depending on if you are breast feeding or not your outcome will also be different.
If you are breast feeding you will need more calories than if you are not. Thus going on a diet is not the best thing when you have just received your bundle of joy.
Go slowly on yourself in the beginning, you might have had a cesarean and need to take it easy or have had other complications that needs to be taken into consideration before starting and exercise program.
Consult your doctor or midwife and ask if they have a post pregnancy program that you can start doing at home.
If you go to the gym ask your fitness instructor to make you a special program to achieve your weight loss and toning.
You should not stress yourself, then it will only take longer.
Take a walk with your baby whenever you can, most babies likes to sleep in their stroller so they will enjoy the walk. A walk everyday for about an hour was a must for me when I had just given birth to my son. And it helped me getting back into shape quicker.
How did you get in shape after giving birth? Or are you still struggling with those extra kilos?
