GI all day!

You've probably heard how too much sugar makes us high then low and tired. In all food we eat there are different kinds of sugars. Also called glucose and referred to as carbohydrates.
All food has different GI, sugar levels. It is divided from 0-100 and usually a slice of white bread has a GI of 100. 1 slice that is!
By eating low GI food you eat food that has a GI of 55 or lower. Medium is 56-69 and high GI is 70-100.
There are different kinds of list with GI values, they might vary but should all be more or less the same.
But don't be fooled by the index list, sometimes chocolate has a lower GI than something more nutritious.
Food from the low GI list will keep you full for longer and give you more energy. More energy means you can do more exercise and burn more calories if that's what you are after.
There are 3 different stages you can start at if you want to loose weight.
Stage 1: No carbs whatsoever for 2 weeks. Result: Loss of water and higher fat burning. After a few days your body gets into ketosis which is the stage when it burns more calories. This should only be done for 2 weeks and not repeated too often.
Stage 2: You can eat more carbs but it is still limited. You will have more energy to exercise than in stage 1.
Stage 3: Your carb intake is still low but depending on how much you exercise you can eat more carbs.
To know how much you should eat you will have to check your exercise level.
And no, don't think that the food is boring or terrible and tasteless. It's absolutely not! Use your imagination and make fabulous breakfasts and dinners.
You won't go hungry either.
I recommend buying some books on the subject so that you can see what is best for you. The Food Doctor offers several nice, tasty and healthy recipes and tips and you can get a 10 day free personal trial.
Or why not sigh up for the free newsletter at GINews?
Because of all the benefits that GI offers I don't see GI as a diet, it's a life choice that you don't give up after a few weeks.
It's a choice to continue a healthy life with more energy!
