Hitting the plateau
Filed in archive Exercises For Everyone by Linda Hernestal da Silva on June 24, 2007

You´ve been good; done your exercises, eaten the right food and followed every tip you´ve got along the way. And then you suddenly feel that all this is not leading anywhere.
You have hit the fitness plateau!
All you want to do is go and hide under the cover for a week.
And maybe that isn´t such a bad idea after all. That usually happens when we try something and have a goal that we want to achieve and we feel that we are not able to live up to all our expectations. And that is OK. We are motivating ourselves so much because of the progress we´ve made that when our progress slows down we become depressed. And when that feeling comes it usually comes with a bang.
So what do you do to get that motivation back?
First, why don´t you take a break for a few days, give yourself a reward for what you have achieved so far.
When you have rested for a few days, create a new workout routine, remember challenging ourselves is good. Come up with a new challenge for yourself.
That also includes checking your diet, maybe that is what has made you hit the plateau, your body could be telling you it´s time to change your diet.
If you have hit the fitness plateau don´t worry too much. Give it a little time and you shall be back where you left off in no time at all! It´s the experiences that makes us stronger, that is a good thing to keep in mind even when it comes to fitness.
