How long will your good eating habits last?

I notice that whenever I try to better my eating habits and I want to lose weight I become "food crazy". All of a sudden I start thinking about food all the time. It is so important what you eat when you want to lose weight so your whole daily planning seems to be focused around that.
Or if I eat something I´ll say that I´ll make up for it later. Tricia from Blogging Away Fat recently returned home after a trip to her family. She writes in her blog:
"So much of this trip was about me thinking that I deserved something or that I'll make up for it later. No, it's not supposed to work like this. This is a lifelong thing I am going for here. Not a quick weight loss to gain it all back like I've done before."
And unfortunately we tend to forget that. We don´t always see our good eating habits as a life long thing but as something that will last only a few weeks or until we have reached our desired goal.
So how long will your good eating habits last? A week or a lifetime?
