Practicing sports because you like it and not because you have to
When we start going to the gym because we "should" and not because we like it we can easily be led onto the wrong track.

Exercising isn't about punishing yourself to go to the gym and workout hour after hour and afterwards feel like you have done something you detest. If you are taking up sports again and decided that going to the gym would be the best thing for you but find that you don't like it at all then it's time to find a sport you like.

Practicing a sport because you like it and not because you have to makes an enormous difference on your health. When we do something we actually don't like we stress ourselves and the outcome is not the same as if we had practiced something we like and afterwards felt good about ourselves. Many times we don't like a sport because it's too tiring, we get tired afterwards but only because our body is working hard. That is not a reason for giving up.

Imagine someone playing football and not liking it, do you think he cares if his team win or lose? Playing football for the sake of playing won't make many goals that's for sure. If you insist on playing football even though you don't like it you will only find yourself more tired afterwards.

How to find a sport you like?
Try something new and don't give up!

It is hard in the beginning and it can take time before you start enjoying your new sport. But you should also not give up, make sure you hang in there a month or two and if you still feel it's not for you then find a sport you like. It can be hard to know what we like, especially if there are many sports we have never tried. Perhaps you can start doing something you enjoyed as a kid and find that it is the perfect sport for you even as an adult. Don't be afraid to try a new sport. Remember that any sport you do will be tiring in the beginning but it only means you are getting stronger. As time goes by it will become easier and you might even find you like it.

Make sure you are active and practice a sport but make the best out of it and only practice something you like. You will feel so much better for it and your body will thank you.
