Stay Healthy
by Linda Hernestal da Silva on October 5, 2007
I have problems to cut down on sugar so I can imagine that if you smoke it is even more difficult to stop this kind of addiction. I have never smoked myself so I can't possible have any idea of what it's like and I have no intention of trying either.
The concept of being "healthy" does not include smoking. You can exercise all you want and eat as good as the king but you will always be behind because of your addiction. You will never be able to be fully "healthy".
The "smoking ban" was introduced in England earlier this year to stop people from smoking in public places.
This has led to a fall in cigarette sales which probably is a good thing.
There have been discussions about "snus" (Swedish name for this type of nicotine intake) which is nicotine that is not smoked but put under your lip. It does however not reduce the use of nicotine.
Researchers have found that it's the toxins in cigarettes that kill so just lowering the intake of nicotine is not going to help people quit smoking.
Professor John Britton says:
In Great Britain the legal age to buy cigarettes has also gone up from 16 to 18 in a try to get kids to stop smoking.
So how do you stop to smoke? Obviously I have never tried so I can´t tell you but ask someone who has succeeded for advice on how to stop. Contact a stop smoking group for support. Make up your mind! Be determined! It is possible to stop you just need to make sure you do it. If you stop smoking you will thank yourself afterwards and you will surely feel so much better! It´s time to smash the smoking habit!
Have you stopped smoking? How has your health improved?

"The best thing that a smoker can do for his or her health is to quit all smoking and nicotine use completely.
"However, there are millions of smokers who can't quit, or else who are unlikely to quit, and those people need nicotine products that can satisfy their addiction without killing them."

I quit smoking almost 2 years ago (2 years Christmas night) and I have not regretted it for one minute. I hate the weight I gained since, but I can breathe easier and my sinus problems have all but disappeared!

Congratulations to you Molly! Just keep exercising to get rid of the extra kilos you gained afterwards.
