The world of yoga is so much more than just standing in a position for 2minutes.
The different types of yoga suit different types of people so first you need to try out which one is the best for you.
Iyengar- this is a good starter. In this yoga you are allowed to use sandbags, pillows and blocks etc. You will learn the basics of all positions which will prepare you for other levels of yoga. Self awareness is the key here.
Ashtanga yoga. Ashtanga focuses more on your strength and is a bit more difficult than Iyengar yoga. You also concentrate on your breathing which is very important as in all sports. Flexibility and strength is the key here.
Power yoga was develloped from AY to suit a modern lifestyle and is the most physical yoga. It will surely make you sweat and is a good way to lose weight
If you are a beginner you can also start with Hatha Yoga
.Helping our body getting rid of toxins is important and Bikram yoga will help you with that. You practice in a room with quite high humidity and warmth. The temperature is supposed to be around 38C or more. This is not a recommended starter yoga.
Other types of yoga are: Kripalu, kundalini, sivananda, mantra-yoga, bhakti-yogam raja and vini-yoga.
I haven't done yoga for a very long time, but I know there are some places here in my city that offers it and I am seriously thinking of taking it up again.
If you are into yoga, what's your favorite and why?
